Our mental health is of focus and people are finally talking about it openly. Yes, it just as important as physical excercise! Mental excercise is needed daily to balance everything out, after all, the average person has over 50,000 thoughts per day it no wonder we feel exhausted at times.
The following tips are some ways to help manage feelings of fatigue;
♥ Give yourself permission to take time out, do nothing for a day, watch T.V and eat snacks - sometimes you need it.
♥ Put your phone down. Learn to not carry your phone with you throughout your home and accept its OK to not be on notifiction alert/call for a period of time each day. Try 45 minutes. (Hard, I know!)
♥ Remember to work to control what you can (that is your own actions) and not waste time and energy on things you can’t influence.
♥ Assess your lifestyle. Are you putting yourself under unnecessary stress and pressures? Modern life pressures us to drive ourselves to bigger and better levels. A chaotic lifestyle is exhausting, it is time to rethink your priorities.
♥ Log off social media or set times for checking it every day. Example,don't check social media between 11am - 5:30pm, whatever works for you just put in some limits.
♥ Find ways to calm your headspace so you have a break from worry; use distractions, conversations, activities such as reading or watch a movie. Getting hooked in a movie can be a helpful break from your own thoughts.
♥Talk about it, talking therapies such as counselling or CBT can help to fight fatigue and look at the reasonings behind it.
♥ Practice gratitude and be kind to yourself. Notice something positive each day, even if it may seem small.
♥ Reduce stress. Stress sucks so much energy out of us so introduce relaxing activities into your day such as walking, working out at the gym, meditation, yoga, listening to music, reading or spending time with friends. Whatever relaxes you will improve your energy.
♥ Have some fun, laughter is one of the best energy and mood boosters around.
♥ Let others help you if you need assistance or support just ask. Most people will help you if you just tell them you need it. Call a friend tell them "I am feeling down today, can we have a quick coffee".
♥ Form a nightly SLEEP routine! Work on a sleep routine when you can and follow an app if you need some guidance on this. Adults should have 6-8 hours per night. Once I introduced this into my life, I really understood the power of it. Sleep routine is a life changing habit.
Finally, ask yourself are there ongoing problems that may be causing anxiety or depression? Talk to your loved ones and tell them how you are feeling. Reach out and seek counselling to work out family, career or personal issues if you think you need a helping hand.
Always put your Mental Health as your priority, a healthy mind is a healthy life.
